Prometheus Art Award

Kitty Revenge 2 Finalist in the Prometheus Art Award 2011

Well it wasn’t a win at the Awards, but it was a great night. Thanks to Clarissa Bones for coming along and getting me in the T2 lane 🙂

I have to admit… It was humbling to be chosen as a finalist. There was so much work I just loved!! 2 in particular that I would have bought on the spot, if I’d won the $15,000

The award was one by someone from Uni too. So I was one of two from QCA Photography. That was pretty cool too.

Luckily, the winning work contained NO ADVERBS…

Prometheus Visual Art Awards 2011

May 20, 2011

Had the Moreton Bay Art Awards tonight and my acquaintance Walter took home a Merit Award. Congrats. I didn’t actually get to speak with him unfortunately. Pretty sure he has no idea who I am  🙂

Dropped off  ‘KittyRevenge 2’ to the Prometheus Visual Arts Award on the Gold Coast today. Looking forward to that one, it’s one of the biggest prizes I have been involved with so far.

Marian Drew and Lister ( I LOVE his work) made the finals last time (2009), so I am quite honoured just to have made the finals. Fingers Crossed I guess…

But really, this week I have already been blessed with the birth of my daughter Cordelia, that anything else would be a miracle.

Exhibition Eve…

May 4, 2011

It’s the night before the big opening at C Gallery and it’s quite exciting. My first major solo in a fantastic new gallery.

Looking forward to seeing it all hung and meeting a lot of you there.

Wrap up

December 5, 2010

Well the week was awesome and last night’s Luke Roberts Opening at the IMA was brilliant. Not only was the work beyond expectation, but the whole event was great. Even the band (Jezabels) were great.

It was great to catch up with some of Brisbane’s greats and have a chat with Luke himself. Do yourselves a favour and get into the IMA and see the show.

Friday night was good too and as the photo shows, I was hung next to Renata Busiak in the SNAP show at the Pine Rivers Regional Gallery.

It was a great show and featured Walter Stahl, who I have exhibited with at the QCP. On the whole it was a great week and really good to catch up with people in the scene.

Christmas next…

Opening Night part 2

October 1, 2010

Wow!! What a great night at the opening of C Gallery at Centro 2 on James street.

Troy and his staff did a fantastic job and it was packed. There was live music great food and drink and some great art.

Unfortunately we had to go early, but I snapped off this photo (much to Jean’s dismay)  🙂

The Future is NOW…

September 12, 2010

Just got back from a loooong drive to Toowoomba and back (with no stereo and only Ween’s ‘Mister wont you please help my pony’ going on and on in my head for the entire trip… there is something to be said for not being sober)

Anyway, it was an awesome day and Holy Green Cow has been given a great honour, by having all four works from the ‘They Came‘ series acquired (purchased) by the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery.

Not only that, but they have been chosen for the ‘Crates on Wheels‘ touring exhibition in 2011 !!!!

I had a great chat with the Lord mayor and his wife about Holy Green Cow and art and music.

Special thanks to Sue and everyone at the Gallery. It was a fantastic exhibition and I am really quite blown away.

Openings etc…

August 23, 2010

Thanks to all those that attended the opening on Saturday night (Election night). It was a great night and from the feedback I got, it seems the series was really well recieved.

Was great to chat with Alison Kubler and Walter Stahl too. Alison Opened the exhibition and Walter was another of the artists.

Thanks again to QCP for selecting me and to the staff that made it happen so wonderfully.

It’s up for a month in the window of the QCP, so if you get a chance, check it out with the other great artists on show too.

Warning: the following photos contain self congratulatory themes…

From the catalogue for the exhibition by Yolande Norris - click to read.

With one of the stars of the series iMog - graciously permitting this photo to be taken 🙂

The launch of Holy Green Cow - Drinking white wine... Hmmm... Don't tell anyone.

Exhibition Invite !! Doesn’t it look cool !!

July 22, 2010

Here’s the Invitation to the QCP’s August exhibition and it features yours truly…

Hope to see you all there on the night. It’s my first major exhibition as Holy Green Cow and it’s quite an honour to have been selected for it.

The entire 11 images from the They Came series will be on display in the window on the road side. So don’t forget to pop outside and look  🙂

Moreton Bay Art Prize Night

May 22, 2010

Just a quick snapshot of Kitty Revenge 2 from last nights Art Prize Opening.

In a field including Carl Warner, I felt pretty stoked to be selected.

It was definitely a night for landscapes though, with virtually all the prizes going to scapes. I guess it pays to research the Judge first.

Also great to see my friend Sam Scoufos pick up a highly commended. Congrats!!
